Droll but often broad spoof of what I like to call the "mister murdery" genre by Neil Simon with a big name cast having fun with their characters and accents in a big old country house. Simon brings together five famous fictional detectives, slightly re-named no doubt for copyright reasons, with sidekicks in tow, to solve a murder at midnight for a prize of one million dollars to whomsoever solves the crime.

I have loved this movie for the longest time. Where else can you find?

All the tropes Agatha Christie and other crime story writers usually fall back on are parodied extensively in this comedy. The cast is excellent with almost every one having played a detective in the past and are now here to rip on their old characters, so to speak.

Five detectives and their sidekicks are invited to the house of millionaire Lionel Twain for a "dinner and murder" evening. What was thought to be a game, at a point, turns deadly serious.

Especially If you are a fan Of the old school noir movies like The Big Sleep, The Maltese Falcon & similar ones the golden era. It's a movie kinda in the veign of the movie clue but obv is its own story.

This is an amusing detective spoof movie by Neil Simon, where millionaire Lionel Twain (Truman Capote) has invited the five greatest detectives to a "dinner and murder." The detectives and their sidekicks are asked to solve a murder in the bizarre mansion, which is full of mysterious features like a blind butler (Alex Guinness), a deaf-mute maid (Nancy Walker), identical rooms, secret passageways, falling statues and deranged animals.

I grew up loving Agatha Christie novels and I grew up loving this movie. The idea is great, the execution is fun in many places but the overall "mystery" in the movie is A+ terrible.

I will make myself out to be a lover of films with absolutely no point, i especially love this film. The cast alone should make this a film on everyones watch list, never before has so much quality been brought together on one screen.
