I've read the reviews by others. Their 'review titles' are all of what I would have used to title this book myself.

I loved this book. FAVELA is in my opinion a fundamental book to everyone who wants to understand this urban phenomenon.

"Favela" revisits and updates Janice Perlman's classic, "The Myth of Marginality." "Favela" is exceptionally good: a combination of empirical social science and ethnography that completes and extends her earlier work.
